Honeymoon Beaches

19 August 2016

Brides Magazine recently published their 10 best honeymoon beaches for 2016. The beaches are, as you would expect, in fabulously exotic and beautiful far flung places including French Polynesia, Mexico and Seychelles.

We absolutely agree that these destinations are wonderful, but also think that you don’t have to travel long-haul to find a gorgeous seaside retreat.   Here are a few which we love, and which prove that you don’t have to go too far to relax in the sun.

Ile de Re, La Rochelle
Ile de Re is a pretty and unspoiled part of the South of France, and very different to the Cote d’Azure – quieter and more tranquil.  The beach at Conche des Baleines is huge and surrounded by large dunes and there are a number of pretty villages to visit .

Spiaggia del Laurito, Positano
Whilst we absolutely love Positano it’s beach is not what you would call tranquil or romantic.
However, just a short boat ride from here is Laurito, a little shingle beach in a pretty cove with a fabulous seafood shack right on the beach.  Not deserted, but well worth the visit.

Dornoch Beach, Scotland
Not everybody wants to go somewhere hot to find the perfect beach.  And the good news is that Dornoch is as gorgeous a beach as you could hope to find.   With miles of golden sand this is a walkers’ paradise, particularly if you are interested in wildlife, as there is a fantastic nature reserve nearby.
